I teach art & train teachers of (visual) art. I develop & conduct lectures, seminar classes, & workshops in the field of teaching art. I have 20 years of experience working with school, college & community groups.

In my current position, I teach undergraduate and graduate (M.A, & Ph.D) courses at the University of Arizona, in Art Education, and the General Education program. Previous work experience includes teaching in K-12, higher education, community, and museum settings, and working as a freelance graphic designer and photographer.

I am deeply interested in how perceptions of culture and community are formed, internalized, and acted out within communities, through production and consumption of art and visual culture artifacts.

Areas of specialization: curriculum & pedagogy development in visual art ; community-focused art programming ; social justice focused art programming ; teaching with contemporary Indian art & craft ; developing teaching as research ; conducting arts based research ; arts integration in education ; teacher identity

I present my work in conferences internationally, am published in several journals & books, & have a forthcoming co- edited anthology published by Routledge Press (see CV for details).
