This is a course I created. This is a Tier 2 General Education course fulfilling requirement that students from across the university learn about diverse cultures and traditions. I teach two versions of this class: one in-person collaborative classroom setting, and another that is fully online

This is a Tier 2 General Education course that fulfills Arts and Writing requirements for students from across the University

ARE 420: Community, Culture and Art Education

This is an upper division course where students learn about ideas and movements in community based art and art education. A practicum component is included as part of the class experience

This is an upper division course where students learn about curriculum theory and how they translate into written and implemented curriculum in art education

ARE 438: Teaching Art and Visual Culture

This is an upper division practicum course where students design and implement a Saturday school program for children in the community

This graduate seminar asks students to critically examine and respond to recommendations on pedagogical style in art education, focusing on the United States

ARE 534: Diversity Issues in Art Education

Students in this seminar explore texts in art education that address diversity issues in the field. Discourses covered include Multiculturalism, Critical Race Theory, Intersectionality, Feminism, Disability Studies, and LGBTQ+ issues

ARE 538: Teaching Art and Visual Culture

This is an upper division practicum course where students design and implement a Saturday school program for children in the community. This is a co-convened class, with the undergraduate section ARE 438

ARE 535: Theory in Art Education

This seminar introduces students to reading social theory and philosophy with a view to considering their ontological and epistemological application and relevance in art education research and practice 

ARE 596A: Mobility, Migration, and Border Crossings

This is a two-part course I created, that students could take individually or as a series. The course introduced ideas from Postcolonial and Globalization theory, in a comparative discourse, with an aim to examine how they apply to art and visual culture education and research
