Building a faculty mentor program
New faculty arrive with expertise and very little map. As a department chair, I founded a mentor program to give them one.

The challenge
In your words: what new and visiting faculty were facing, and what was missing before the program.
What I did
- Founded the faculty mentor program for the college (2022–2024).
- Trained for it through Academic Impressions’ “Designing a New Faculty Mentor Program” bootcamp (2022).
- Mentored visiting and tenure-track faculty in my own department.
- Add: how mentors and mentees were matched, what the program asked of them, how it ran.
What changed
Add outcomes you can state with confidence: participants, feedback, retention or promotion milestones.
What I bring to your institution
Mentoring structures that make expectations visible, support people from different backgrounds, and survive changes in leadership.
